What awaits you

Berat is a colourful architectural ensemble of Ottoman houses. The City of God’s Light, a thousand windows – has been under the auspices of UNESCO for its unusual architecture since 2005. You will hear legends and stories of the Muslim district of Mangalem, which the Osumi River divided from the Christian Gorica with hanging and openwork bridges of the 18th century. On one street you will find Christian shrines and Muslim mosques, a Bektashi tekke and a museum in honor of the Jews. Your heart will forever be captured by the city with thousands of windows, shining with the heavenly faces of ancient icons in the Onufri Museum, reflected in the waters of the mighty Osumi River. On the mountain rises the medieval castle-fortress of Berat, which we will explore from the inside and climb to the Church of the Holy Trinity. People still live here, as hundreds of centuries ago. From the platform in front of the temple you will have the best view of the mountains Tomorri and Shpirag, and you will also learn the legend of the sad love of two brothers, who turned into these mountain peaks, for the impregnable beauty of Berat.
